Ancella Klunne (1970) graduated from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 1995. She joined the long-established law firm of Houthoff Buruma in Rotterdam as a lawyer in 1997, where she worked in the field of construction law, liability law and insurance law. In 2007, she moved to the law firm of Severijn Hulshof advocaten, where she was a partner before she co-founded Staal Advocaten.
Ancella is specialized in civil construction law as well as liability and insurance law related to the construction industry. Her clients include contractors, consultants, principals, insured parties and insurance companies. She regularly deals with matters such as additional and reduced work claims, delay claims, delivery defects, and implementation errors. She litigates before the Court of Arbitration for the Netherlands Building Industry, the Netherlands Arbitration Institute as well as before the regular Courts of law.
Ancella is an expert on matters concerning cable and pipework damage. Since the introduction of the Information Exchange on Underground Networks Act (WION) in 2008, Ancella has studied this Act in detail and closely followed the developments arising as a result of this Act in practice and the related case law.
Ancella also deals with matters related to policy cover, for instance with regard to CAR, AVB and work materials insurance policies, where the insurance company and the insured party have a dispute concerning the cover. Matters concerning liability of building consultants and damage caused to neighboring properties while building work is in progress also belong to her field of expertise.
Ancella regularly gives lectures and courses on various topics, including the WION (excavation contractors’ regulation), liability of building consultants, general terms and conditions and contracting in the construction industry,. She regularly publishes papers on these and other subjects.
